I've seen photos of 40mm grenade bandoliers and carriers like this soldier is wearing:
What caught my eye is that the bandolier is carried at dead center mass on the torso. Since center mass is the most likely place to be hit, doesn't this expose the 40mm grenades to the most likely area of getting hit? What my question is, is that if a 40mm grenade gets hit by a bullet/piece of shrapnel, etc. would it detonate?
I understand that 40mm grenades are armed in flight at a certain distance after being fired, but could an impact from a bullet cause them to prematurely detonate? Attached Thumbnails
